Kayoko Kimura

By switching the focus to macro and then to micro and repeating the process of intersimilarity, the artist, Kayoko Kimura produces works with universal themes such as the
universe, time and life.

Just as how we cannot ignore the concept of time when talking about the world (universe), we cannot avoid living in considering life.

“What is this world? In other words, what is life?”

Art production is a journey to find the answer to her question. The practice of creation might as well be her continuous search for very answer.

Until 2010, the artist’s works are mainly created and inspired by the energy of pencil, Japanese washi and photographs.

Since 2011, she began to focus on “drawing” the action, by inserting the energy of her very own life to every single brush she put into the work. The consistent theme of Kimura’s works is the exploration of the universe, time, as well as life cycle.

“Flower blossom” is one of the major subjects in most of her drawings to depict how beautifull our life is.
