Shi Lifeng
Shi Lifeng (Chinese, b.1968) is an influential contemporary artist, and one of the best-known Chinese artist of his generation. Characterized by an intense black and red color palette to tells compelling stories of present struggles in China, the characters in his paintings are a nervous bunch – all of them, are trying to leave a life of poverty and plight by running, jumping, climbing and, quite often, falling as well. To him, it is a life at the cliff’s edge, aware of the present danger but with a strong message of hope for a better future.
Shi’s work has been exhibited worldwide, including at the Shanghai Duolun Museum of Modern Art, Yang Gallery in Singapore, and the Beijing Contemporary Art Museum, among others. Meanwhile, Shi Lifeng also is the first Chinese artist who was chosen for an international album cover design of the US rock band Guns N’ Roses.
